Medium Super Move

Vexx can do a slower, more powerful version of his 3-hit combo. By pressing attack at a slower pace, and holding it on the last blow, Vexx does a moderately powerful uppercut that refills more of his special meter. Use R to use the super move at the right time.

Charged combo attack

When doing the three hit combo attack, you can sometimes hold Attack on the third attack and Vexx will charge up his attack before delivering the final blow.

Fly suit

In Dragons Reach (level 2), climb up the dragon's tail. Continue climbing until you reach the yellow poles on the slippery ground. Climb the first and jump to the others. On the last one, turn to your left and try to do a long jump to a small platform with a jump pad on it. You will be rocketed over to the plateau. Walk around it. The fly suit is on the other side. Note: The jump to the jump pad may require some adjustments on your part.

Rock suit

After the Talon's tutorial, when the blind guy wakes you up, jump to the column in the middle that has fire on it, but do not touch the fire. After that, arrange yourself so that you are on the left side facing the exit. Hop into the fire, and rocket yourself out to the left. Proceed towards the blue rings. You will be teleported to the red tapestry. Climb to the top of it and grab the red disk. Afterwards, jump off either side to exit the tapestry.

Pirate ship game in the below

In the pirate ship game with the three pirates from the belly of the large beast, it is easier to not try to change the colors of the squares yourself. Instead, watch the board and let the cannonballs do the work for you.

The code for the pirate chest is A, X, B.

Avoid Falling Damage

Another way to avoid falling damage is right before you hit the ground press the b button to execute a flare kick. You will land safely.

The Below Hint

In "The Below" theres a level wiht a whole bunch of statues with switches by them all. A floating orb thing will follow you around and if you press the wrong switch Zappp! You're fried. To beat this level look at all the statues. Find the one that is different from all the rest. Sometimes they will point and you will have to find another one that is different. Keep doing this and youll get the wraitheart.

Fighting Moves

Heres the list of fighting moves/moves Vexx can do:

Flare Kick: Jump and press B while in the air
Uppercut: Hold L and press B
Booster Jump: Hold L and press A
Ground Pound: Jump and press L while in the air
Combo: press B 3 times in succession
Combo Punch: press B two times, hesitate and hold B to charge release B to do the attack
4-hit combo: press B twice, hesitate and press b twice again
4-hit combo # 2: perform combo punch then press B again
Jump: press A
Talon Charge: fill up talon meter and press R, press B to shoot blue blasts.

Combo Attack

When you play the game go to a monster and rapidly press B. It will not work if you try to do it in the air without attacking anyone.

Description:
While Acclaim obviously hopes to launch a new character into the video game pantheon with Vexx, don't expect another cuddly sprite who would be at home in a Looney Tunes cartoon. There is something decidedly twisted about Vexx. It might have something to do with his witnessing of the murder of his grandfather. After discovering hidden Astani war talons--which permanently attach to Vexx's arms--he is charged with avenging his grandfather's death, freeing his fellow villagers from slavery, and ridding the universe of the evil Dark Yabu.

But focusing on the game's story line misses the point of this platform game. Soon after the long and elaborately animated introduction ends, cut scenes fade into obscurity and the running, jumping, flipping, kicking, and smashing begin. Playing as Vexx, you collect Wraith hearts. The Wraiths themselves have been destroyed somehow--a story point that isn't too clear--but their force-feedback beating hearts remain. By gathering their energy, you power up the central hub that in turn opens doors to different worlds--from ice-encrusted wastelands and lush forests to hilly deserts and underwater oases. The graphics and music in each new world, as well as the many miniworlds hidden within, are often breathtaking. At times, you easily become distracted, taking a break from world-saving responsibility to hop into a pool for a swim or perch on top of some pole just to get a good look around.

The controls are fairly straightforward, although occasionally a near-impossible move sequence is needed to propel Vexx up to the next wobbling platform. The puzzles that lead to each heart can be challenging, if not downright frustrating, but there are enough available that you can always go play somewhere else. There are 81 hearts scattered throughout the game, but only 60 are required to battle Dark Yabu. The creatures in each world are easy to slaughter, only a nuisance if they attack at the wrong time or en masse. Those seeking more of a challenge can hop on the sundial in each level and twist it from day to night, which not only produces cool graphical and musical effects, but brings out a meaner breed of creepy-crawly.

The only real defect is the third-person camera, which at times simply refuses to cooperate--but this is more than made up for with the thrill of battling a sumo wrestler about 15 times your size, complete with his jiggling rolls of fat and deep-throated chortle. Nothing beats smacking him in the butt until he looms up on his tippy toes and falls over. --D.J. Morel
